The C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has yet to reach the hands of customers and already, talk about the forthcoming Z06 has reached fever pitch. With more and more leaks incoming, and a potential delay due to COVID-19, fans are eagerly awaiting any possible morsel of information.
Last month, a number of C8 Corvette Z06 sightings were made, with one particularly revealing video capturing the car’s screaming engine and exhaust note. Now Gabe Design over on Instagram has rendered how the new car may look. https://www.instagram.com/p/B8y61synU9D/?utm_source=ig_embed

As the new Z06 will not be the range-topping C8 Corvette, it’s reasonable to assume that the American car manufacturer won’t completely overhaul its exterior, leaving room for more striking variants in the future, like a new ZR1. Consequently, the Z06 pictured has a rather modest yet still striking exterior design that’s not too over-the-top.
At the front, the car adopts a new bumper complete with a gaping wide front grille and air intakes with a similar large mesh design to the Camaro ZL1. We think it looks absolutely perfect.
Elsewhere, it looks as though the car’s front and rear fenders have been flared to support a wider set of wheels and tires. There are also new side skirts and we can see part of a larger wing at the rear.
It is believed the new Corvette Z06 will feature a naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine, based around the engine of the Corvette C8.R race car. This engine could be modified to produce over 600+ hp in road-going guise and come coupled with a tuned version of the Stingray’s dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, sending power exclusively through the rear wheels. Expect the engine to rev well into the 8,500-9,000 screaming range, similar to the 2015-2020 Mustang GT-350. Lets hope GM has fixed several of the issues which plagued the early editions of that motor. As the tuner market heats up, expect well over 650-700 whp possible with an e85 tune and full exhaust.
Here is a clip of what the current C8.R sounds like. If the new C8 Z06 sounds anything like this, we are in for a treat.
