MotorTrend finally release their hotly anticipated Head 2 Head episode, in which the 2017 Shelby GT350R Mustang is measured against the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Both the GT350R, and the ZL1 are the pinnacle of the pony car lineup, at least until the GT500 is released, and many fans have been comparing the two, ever since they hit the street.
With 124 more HP than the GT350R, most people assume the ZL1 will be the clear winner, however I wouldn’t count out the GT350R quite yet. MotorTrend is quick to point out:
Kicking out a stonking 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, the supercharged Camaro is capable of both humbling supercars and the greatest burnouts we’ve ever seen…
However, the GT350R has some of its own “magic” up its sleeve, ready to go to battle against the ZL1. MotorTrend notes:
The Shelby is down on power but is up on magic. Also able to embarrass cars costing two or three (or four/five) times as much, the GT350R has something special going on.
Its not always about the most horsepower, or the fastest 0-60 time. Sometimes it comes down to which car you simply have more fun. Having owned various Mustangs and Camaros over the years, it comes down to a hard choice for me. I won’t spoil the ending and reaction of the video for you, I’ll let you make up your own decisions about these two beasts.
